It depends on the PIR sensor but some have sensitivity and delay pots. You can try tweeting those. The esphome library for binary sensor should work fine. Essentially give the sensor the voltage it needs like 5v and the output pin sends 5v when it detects motion. Some work on as well. They generally send the same voltage they receive.
